Adding Veggies to Your Meal Without Knowing It

Do you struggle to get your kids to eat all of their veggies or do you yourself need to  veggimac and cheese picincorporate more nutrient packed foods into your diet?  How about instead of making it a battle or a struggle every meal why not sneak the healthy foods in without anyone being the wiser.  Here are a few of my favorite ways to add nutritional foods to your everyday meals.

* For breakfast I like to finely mince broccoli and add it to scrambled eggs.  The broccoli doesn’t change the texture or taste of the eggs and you can get a full serving of vegetables by just adding this to your morning meal.

* Macaroni and cheese doesn’t usually have any redeeming nutritional qualities but with all of the cheesiness you won’t even taste a big handful of mixed veggies thrown in.  I usually use a frozen bag of veggies and throw it in during the cooking process.

* Burgers on the grill are a favorite family dinner so the best way to add vegetables to this in addition to the lettuce, tomato, and onion condiments I also add shredded or even pureed carrots to the ground beef before making it into patties.  Your family will never even know you are making them healthier.

* Let’s face it, chocolate flavor trumps all other flavors making it the perfect food to help disguise other foods such as veggies.  When making a chocolate cake batter add a handful of shredded zucchini or squash for a bit of texture and a bit of nutritional value to your dessert!

I’m sure by now you get the idea of how to add healthy foods to your less healthy meals.  Here is a list of many more ideas and I’d love to hear any that you may have!
